Since 2005, Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien, under the direction of their founder, flutist and musicologist François Lazarevitch, have been exploring the exciting fusion of Baroque music and traditional music. Their interpretations combine a historically informed approach with the experience of traditional folk music. The result is irresistibly lively, musically sensitive, and highly virtuosic.
In 1651, John Playford published The English Dancing Master, a collection of dances that were popular from the pubs to the royal court and delighted audiences throughout Europe. The program The Queen’s Delight is inspired by this collection. Since some of these “hits” were also sung, the instrumentalists are joined by a soprano and a baritone.
