Lecture Concert
Under the direction of Ian Harrison, the ensemble Inventio is dedicated to the music of the Renaissance. The group performs in historical instrumentation with shawm, pommer, Renaissance trombone, cornett, and bagpipes. This exceptional combination of instruments forms the core of the so-called alta capella — the loud ensemble, in contrast to the bassa capella, the soft ensemble.
The alta capella was heard in churches, at major festivities, weddings, aristocratic banquets, and on representative occasions in both urban and courtly settings.
Throughout the concert, Ian Harrison introduces the historical instrumentation of the alta capella in an entertaining manner and, together with his ensemble, presents the associated art of improvisation through musical examples.
The venue ist accessible via the entrance Kurhausstraße/Bushof.
