Emotional arias and songs by Georg Philipp Telemann and Johann Valentin Görner.
In this “Hamburg” program for voice and basso continuo, compositions by Georg Philipp Telemann and Johann Valentin Görner are set side by side. Görner’s songs were part of Hamburg’s bourgeois musical life – performed as domestic music or in convivial gatherings. Telemann’s works captivate with stylistic diversity, ranging from early Baroque secular cantatas to sensitive, galant melodies.
Both composers created music that entertains and moves. At the center are emotions: love, happiness, and despair — shaped with grand gestures in the style of the 17th and 18th centuries and presented here by two young musicians who approach the subject with passion and enliven it with engaging, witty commentary.
(Please note: The venue for this concert has changed – the event will take place at the Music School of Heinsberg, and not at Schloss Zweibrüggen, as previously announced.)
