Ludus Instrumentalis was founded in 2014 by the violinist Evgeniy Sviridov and his wife Anna Dimitrieva and is based in Cologne. First prizes at the Berlin Bach Competition, the Gebrüder Graun Competition, and the Saarland Förderpreis Alte Musik led to invitations to Europe’s most important festivals and concert halls. In 2018, Ludus Instrumentalis was Ensemble-in-Residence at Rheinsberg Palace.
With their program, they represent Baroque instrumental music at the festival, featuring works by Bach and Goldberg. The latter – whose name is primarily known through Bach’s Goldberg Variations – is presented to the audience as a great composer who unfortunately died far too young.
